Grading Permit Approval Process

Step 1: At the time you are ready to begin the grading permit process with the Public Works Department, make sure to include all of the following items for approval:

  • Two copies of engineers cost estimate,
  • Full plan-check fee based on engineers cost estimate,
  • Five sets of blue lines of grading plans,
  • Two copies of soils report,
  • One copy of the conditions of approval (if applicable),
  • Two sets of hydrology/hydraulic calculations,
  • One set of landscaping plans (if applicable),
  • One copy of recent title report,
  • One copy of the General Construction Activities Storm Water Permit Notice of Intent, with Waste Discharge Identification Number, and receipt of payment, if applicable.
  • Erosion control plans,
  • Erosion control cost estimate,
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan that meets all local and state requirements, if applicable, and
  • Project Urban Runoff Threat Assessment Form.

Step 2: Prior to the Engineering Department’s approval of a grading permit, all processing fees, grading and erosion control securities must be provided.
